Savannah - Wexford

Why the Purple and Gold?
Even though several of Savannah GAA's founding members are from Dublin, Ireland, the founders chose purple and gold as the team colors as an homage to Wexford GAA. You may be surprised to learn that the majority of Savannah's Irish community can trace their ancestry back to County Wexford. The Dunbrody Famine Ship Experience & Museum is located in Wexford and includes the "Savannah Landing Point" exhibit which portrays what life was like for Irish immigrants traveling to America during the famine. The attraction was part of a collaboration between several Wexford organizations as well as Visit Savannah.
