Our Story

It all started at the Savannah Irish Festival on Saturday, February 15, 2020, when a group of strangers started talking as they enjoyed the Irish music being played onstage. Later that evening, the group found themselves at Billy's Place Lounge enjoying a traditional Irish session being serenaded by local Irish band, Seldom Sober. Sometimes the best ideas happen late at night after a few pints...

"Let's start a GAA team!"

Wednesday, February 19, 2020, the group met at O'Connell's Irish Pub and formed the Savannah GAA.

Today the Savannah GAA continues to represent Irish sports in Savannah, Pooler and the surrounding Coastal Empire in Georgia and the Lowcountry. We strive to create a welcoming, fun atmosphere that embraces players and club members from all backgrounds and walks of life. We aim to educate our local community and stakeholders on the importance and historical significance of Irish sports and represent the rapidly-expanding Gaelic games in Coastal Georgia and the Southeastern region of the United States.
